Shanghai Wants More British Brands and Designers

In a discussion today held in BCC LinkToChina’s head office, a Shanghai governmental delegation from the Huangpu District, the Central business district of Shanghai, explored with the LinkToChina programme on how British cultural industries, creative sectors and retail sectors may get more involved in Shanghai.

The new Huangpu District, which has just been expanded by the merge of Huangpu and Luwang Districts, is now one the largest retail district in China, featuring the world famous waterfront, the Bund, and Nanjing Road / Huahai Road high streets, and the World Expo site.

Led by Ms Hua Zhang, the Chairwoman of a top committee of Shanghai Huangpu Government, the group wants to see more British brands in their high streets and more British designers and cultural specialists in their booming creative and service industries.

The Shanghai delegates said that a new retail development of 40,000 square metters in a prime location is looking for products of British Brand to partner with. They have taken interest in some of the UK proposals featured in the LinkToChina bulletins.
