You are cordially invited to attend this unique event for the trade and investment opportunities of the City of Zhongshan, a leading hub of manufacturing in China.

Zhongshan has an international reputation in clusters of manufacturing such as advanced engineering & equipment, electronics & ICT, household electric and electronic appliances, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, and lighting among its 38 industrial production bases of national significance and 18 technology innovation towns of regional importance.

Demands are soaring from the world second largest importer and one of the main source countries for foreign investment globally, especially from the leading economic region of Guangdong Province and its 21 cities such as Zhongshan. The trade and investment opportunities are readily available for British companies, yet China only accounted for 3.6% of UK exports and 7.0% of all UK imports in 2017. Unlocking the potential urgently requires much in-depth understanding of the local markets and connections with specific cities.

Led by the Leader of Zhongshan City, Mr. Xudong Chen, a high-level government and business delegation is visiting the UK to promote trade and investment opportunities in the City of Zhongshan. They will be at the seminar to showcase those market opportunities and how companies from the UK can get support in Zhongshan.

The City of Zhongshan has expressed a strong desire to work with the UK in the advanced equipment manufacturing, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, e-vehicles & auto technologies and business service platforms among many other sectors.

The keynote speakers will be joined by a panel of British and Chinese companies who have done businesses between the UK and the City of Zhongshan who will share their valuable experience in doing business with China.

Dr Kegang Wu, Chief Representative of China Guangdong Economic and Trade Office in the UK, will introduce the panel members and facilitate questions from the audience.

At the heart of a thriving 11 city cluster including Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Zhongshan is poised to be the land of opportunities for next decade in the new Greater Bay Area, designated to be a world class bay area economy for China and beyond.

London and Southeast (including Thames Valley regions) accounted for 34% of UK import from China and 22.5% of UK’s export to China in 2017, however separately neither London nor Southeast exported more than Scotland to China. This event is timely given the growth momentum to be unleashed by the Greater Bay Area strategy at the time of Brexit uncertainly.
